My name is John Wood. My artist name is Jay 3rd.
I'm 40 y/o (born in 85)
I'm an Artist, Song/Ghost Writer, Producer and Sound Engineer. I've been writing since 2001. I've been Recording music since 2002.

I started more in the Hip Hop scene but I love and respect multiple Genres of music. I write mainly for Hip Hop, R&B, Rock, Country and Blues. For the love of music I would always study and respect each genre I write for. You can hear the difference in the song structure each genre I write for.

I was signed to a small label out in Phoenix AZ back in 2011. Working on an album and performing on stage. Then I was diagnosed with cancer (with a 32% survival rate) at the end of 2011 and they dropped me after a few months of starting chemo. After the 2 year battle, I joined the Sheriff's academy and became a LEO (Law Enforcement Officer) for 7 years. Through that time I met my wife and we started a family.

In 2021 and 2022 my daughter and son were both diagnosed with Autism. So it's definitely been a challenge to make time for music, but I would always keep writing. Through my cancer, during academy, and any free time I got. My wife came up with the idea for me to write songs and sell them. That's when Ghost writing came into play. I would go on FIVERR and sell my lyrics.

Now I've learned about Suno and it's been an amazing tool and feature to sell my writing. I write 100% of my lyrics, I record the melody and flow I created with the lyrics and upload it to Suno. Suno brings that vision to life. I sell the lyrics and use Suno as an example of the song potential. The client can either use the Suno song and record themselves and make tweaks as needed, or just take the lyrics and make the song from scratch.

Wow such an interesting story!

So when people ask you to write a song, do they just tell you a story?

Sounds like fun!
When you row someone else across the river, you get there yourself

Yes. For the most part they usually have an idea or topic they want me to write about. Returning customers put their trust in me to write a song from scratch of the genre they're in. A lot of artists have me sign an NDA (Non-Disclosure Agreement). To my knowledge I've yet heard any of my lyrics on the radio lol. Can't wait till one does though. That way I can get overly excited and people look at me like I'm nuts and I just have to say I really like this song lol
