In addition, people have told me during my life.. "just get out of your own way" I don't know what that means and never have.

Looks like you're gonna have to find a common thread around running............from what? Yourself, your relationships, your family, a location?

Metaphorically, it reminds of a video I watched where a guy was talking about mics.
He said, "I can record something with a $150 mic and I can record something with a $1500 mic...but in the end, I'm still going to sound like me."

His point was a good recording requires a good execution at-the-source. (It did until AI came along)

Life is like that though.
You can move to a different town every year, but it is YOU who will always arrive there.


I think that the theme is interesting and fertile.

Personally, I would apply it to a romantic relationship.
Years ago there was a song that included the lyrics..."She loves to fall in love, and she don't care if you're not there."

I might write this about that "she."

I don't think it should be a romance song, I think it would be more like Dolly Parton advice song.

Maybe a verse or two about trying to run from something and the chorus would be "well that didn't work" lol

On YouTube, I follow a few people who give "relationship advice" looking for song material and life lessons.

They typically show videos of people going through something-or-other, and then comment on it. A recurrent theme is the spouse who grew tired of their marriage, felt like they had outgrown it, and became enchanted with someone outside the marriage.

A year or three later, it all blows up and goes in the dumper and they are crying into their cereal about how they wish they could have seen how it would all end up looking...from the dumper.

They whine about wanting the relationship back and the altruistic banner that they always fly is "Don't make the mistake that I made."

(Adultry isn't a mistake. It's a willful act)

The other spouse has usually moved on and ain't coming back.

I've got that as a song-bit on my to-do list.
It's similar to this I guess.
