Title: Re: Out Of The Dark
Post by: guest44 on May 07, 2026, 03:38:01 pm
I listened to both versions....  Both are good but Bill's seems to be quite a bit better....

Like we've said Kay-lynn we needed to find someone that knows how to use Suno...

I really can't be objective since I wrote the original lyric and have no plans to actually change it, but the other version sounds kewl too!
You shouldn't change it, your version is more personal and direct. You are writing to a specific person, mine is more generalize, but I wouldn't say it's better.

Wow........... that's very kewl!!  So sweet of you to take the time to play with it.  Certainly sounds different with "baby" in there, so that's interesting. I wonder what others will say.

Thanks Again!
You're welcome. I'm not a nashville writer, but it seems this could be a hit, but then again, I could be wrong :)
Do you mind If I publish my version, I'm curious to see what kind of reaction I get on Audius.

What is Audius? I don't publish anything on the Suno platform for obvious reasons, but sure, you can post it as long as my name is on it.

Thanks! Let me know what happens.
What obvious reasons, i'm not following.

Audius is another music sharing platform, Yes, you have full credit as the writer, I usually say - Cover based on original lyrics by (in this case) redwriter1 or whatever name you want me to put, then say arrangement by me

If you publish on Suno it gets to use your melodies so I just don't do it.  Cover based on original lyric AND melody by Kay-lynn Carew would be fine.

All Suno did was add some strings. (smile)
I added a full gospel flair to it.

You sure did! Take credit as producer/arranger. That's fine.
Life is nothing but learning experiences, at least you didn't say bless your heart  :D  :D  :D

NO no no, what I meant was, all Suno did to MY version was add some strings.  YOUR version is full on arrangement. Go for it!
I'm teasing.

Sure!! Run it through.............. love to have new takes on songs. Go for it!
I dropped the baby to make it more universal, because your lyrics could be spiritual, or based on a relationship
I can imagine Lady Antebellum singing this at the Grand Ole' Opry, with dim lights, a gospel choir singing harmonies in the background and Hillary and Charles, singing a duet, or at a christian revival, throngs of people with lighters and swaying.

Probably overthought it :)

[Verse 1]
In a heartbeat, in a teardrop
In a single moment in time
There's a light on, that goes on
And you were mine

[Instrumental Build up]

[Chorus]
'Cause you shined, love into my life
I was blind, now I see the light
It's all because of you
One little spark, I'm out of the dark
Yeah, One little spark, (I'm out of the dark)

[Verse 2]
It was cold there, I don't know where
I would be right now
You found me, wrapped around me
I still don't know how

[Instrumental Build up]

[Chorus]
'Cause you shined love into my life
I was blind, now I see the light
It's all because of you
One little spark, I'm out of the dark
Yeah, One little spark, (I'm out of the dark)

[Verse 3]
You believed me, you could see me
When everyone else disappeared
It's amazing, I must be crazy
I finally saw through the tears

[Outro]
When you shined love, into my life
I was blind, now I see the light
It's all because of you
One little spark, I'm out of the dark
[Spoken]
It's all because of you
It's all because of you
Yeah, I'm out of the dark

Great song! For an option, you may place a two line bridge, (Male Vocal Talking), right after verse 3. Something simple... (Two line verse). May create a more sincere and intimate outro. Just a thought, but the song lyrics are well written!

If it's not a country ballad, what genre would you recommend?  My brain is hard-wired for Nashville, I know, it's weird.
I was originally thinking of prog Steve Wilson, but then my brain has a chance to wake up, I was thinking more in lines of Lady Antebellum,
Also, I think you have the chorus embedded in your verse, at least to me, but then I'm not a "proper" songwriter :)

[Verse 1]
In a heartbeat, in a teardrop
In a single moment in time
There's a light that goes on
And baby you were mine

[Chorus]
'Cause you shined love into my life, I was blind
But now I see the light, it's all because of you
One little spark, baby, I'm out of the dark
Yah, One little spark, I'm out of the dark

[Verse 2]
It was cold there, I don't know where
I would be right now
But you found me, wrapped around me
I still don't know how

[Chorus]
You shined love into my life, I was blind
But now I see the light, it's all because of you
One little spark, baby, I'm out of the dark
Yah, One little spark, I'm out of the dark

[Verse 3]
You believed me, you could see me
When everyone else disappeared
It's amazing, must be crazy
I finally saw through the tears

[Outro]
When you shined love into my life, I was blind
But now I see the light, it's all because of you
And one little spark, baby, I'm out of the dark
[Spoken]
It's all because of you
It's all because of you

Sorry, didn't mean to hack up your lyrics.
Do you mind if I put this into Suno, and see what I can come up with?
Damn, I wish I could write like this. Between you and Elvis, I feel impotent :)

Seems like it needs a chorus, but maybe not. Or maybe a bridge ?  I didn't realize it didn't have one, silly me.

Not all songs need choruses and not all songs need bridges.
In a recent video, Marty Dodson, said that less than 1/2 his songs have bridges
I think it's fine as is.
You tell a story and each line flows to the next.
This is just me, but this isn't a country ballad, but that's just me, not a fan of country music :)
You can really feel the emotion in this piece.
Well done.
