Ah, pitching it for Christmas? I did wonder!! The structure of the lyrics is a bit unusual and interesting and I reckon it works really well. The words come over as rather sad. This is a lovely song which paints a picture. A good listen :)

A beautiful song, Red. It's Mother's Day, and this is a very fitting song.
I love the line: "We all see a tree through my mother's eyes". It's a very good line.

I don't think they write them in July but that's when you have to "pitch" them for xmas. (smile)

Very pretty song , I never figured out why some writers, write Xmas songs in July. I always turn into a Jehovah Witness at Xmas . No holidays for me. of course that does work on my wife birthday. She ain't buying the Jehovah thing.

It's actually a true story, I swear.................. my Mother actually did that!

Yes, mothers always have that way! I look back and relive so many special moments of her "little things" to show her love. Christmas or Mother's Day... It fits.

It is Mother's day after all, and even though this is a xmas song (my only one)... it's about how we saw the world through her eyes.
(If anyone knows how to get the words to scroll across a video that would be great! lol)

Through my mother's eyes were seen the days
of Christmas's gone by
When all her children came in haste
to gather by her side
No tree this year my little ones
she would apologize
Though we all hoped it wasn't true
Your mother doesn't lie
Through my mother's eyes was see a tree
with Christmas lights so bright
But it would need a little help
to make it look just right
It's not much, she said, but it will do
We'll have a Christmas tree
And it will be the best of all
You just wait and see
It was oddly shaped and very small
but beautiful indeed
Even though our Christmas tree
was just a tumble weed
Though time went by and years between
I still recall the sighs
When we all saw a Christmas tree
Through my mother's eyes.
