When The Mem'ries Were Good

This lyric was inspired by the small town in the movie "Doc Hollywood"
When The Mem’ries Were Good
I recall all those dog days of summer
August wind like hot breath on my neck
I’d rub my brow with a cool sweet tea glass
Watchin’ kids chase fireflies on the sun-baked grass
From the back porch you’d hear the 9:15
And watch the trail of her smokestack cloud
Nights I dreamt of jumpin’ that train to see
What the world holds outside this one stop light town
Chorus:
Our younger days seem to fade so fast
Maybe what keeps us young is getting lost in the past
Like that summer in my neck of the woods
Back when all the mem’ries were good
I’d walk down to the creek through the town square
Honeysuckle heavy in the air
I’d lay back in the tall grass in the sun
Watchin’ clouds roll by and that old river run
Saturday nights down at the picture show
Neckin’ in the dark in the last row
Later we’d head over to the ice cream parlor
A sugar cone and two scoops for a dollar
Chorus
Bridge:
I’d go swimmin’ with my girl out by the falls
In a field of magnolias where the catbirds call
We’d make love where no one could find us
Leavin’ the world we knew far behind us
Main Street was lined and dressed for Labor Day
Town’s old soldiers marched in the parade
School kids did “Our Town” at the church hall
That last gasp of summer before leaves start to fall
Chorus

These are good lyrics.
This seems to trip a bit for me, but that's just me - What the world holds outside this one stop light town
other than that, it's well constructed and paints a picture.

Nice job here Rich,
I don't see any reason why this wouldn't work.
Good Luck with it.

Thanks for checking this out. I know what you mean about that one line. I'm sure I'll be rewriting it so it flows better.
