A 4 minute movie in a song
« on: »
Hey all! This song has done great in writing contests and sync license. It's a great story that people seem to like. It was written with a friend in Nashville.  Him the music and me the lyrics. This version is AI generated but the non AI version is what was being judged and accepted

Nice story, but it's not the way it really happens :'(

This does sound good.  If you don't mind please post you lyrics here as well.

Good Luck and Thanks

4 minutes is a little long, but I would love to see the lyric.
When you row someone else across the river, you get there yourself

V1: We'd meet at the swings before school each day.
Never knew how much time we'd have to play
See who ran fastest to the tree and
hoping we'd have time to play hide and seek
When the bell rang we held hands into the school
When I was with Brandy I felt so cool
She made me feel like the hero in her life.
There were even times we'd play man and wife
CHORUS: She was the song I hoped I'd get to write.
She was the sun after all my rainy nights.
She was the gift one day I'd get to open.
That she loved me too is all I was hoping.
V2: By senior year she'd met somebody else.
I said I'll be fine as I lied to myself.
It hurt me when I'd see them holding hands in the hall.
and playing games in the arcade at the mall.
When I heard her say baby I love you too
it made me feel like my heart was cut in two.
Even though last summer she became his wife
She'd still be the girl I'd love all my life
(CHORUS)
V3: Some years went by and I met a nice girl
Before long we brought a child in the world.
She gave me the joy I needed for so long
I'd tuck her in and I'd play her a song.
She'd as me to count so she could go and hide
and have tea parties with her dolls outside.
She'd smile real big while she played on the swings
Id think of Brandy and I thought one thing
(CHORUS)
Bridge: Last year my wife packed her things and walked
There was no more loving and we barely talked.
Drowning in pity at the bar was therapy.
Last night there was a memory sat down beside me.
She said, Remember me we'd meet at the swings?
Since my old man left me I thought about things.
When I was with him I always thought of you
and prayed that you'd forgive me and you always knew
(closing choru): I wished I'd been the song you hoped to write
and be the sun after all your rainy nights.
I'll be the gift right now you get to open
That you loved me too is all that I am hoping.

Ok here's where I got confused.   It says she became your wife, and then the next verse is you met a nice girl and had a baby.

????

am I mis-reading something?

in the 2nd verse it says she fell in love with another guy in high school. And even though those 2 got married , the singer (kid in first verse) would still always love her anyway. The one that got away. At the end of the song they meet up in a bar. She admits she always thought of him. Just look back at the lyrics. Sorry if the lyrics weren't clear

3rd verse talks about where the singer met another girl and married her and had a little girl together.  But he still thought of Brandy even though he married another woman

Ohhhhh I"m sorry, that was totally my fault.!!! ........I see it now.  I guess it just came up so soon, I got a little confused.

I stand corrected. Carry on.

I only have two folkish songs on the board right now... but soundclick has a bunch..a lot of country music at the top of that page, as well.

The song really dosent fit the Sync market to me , but its a cool Nashville radio song , tad long , but thats ok.
