Sort of Sorry
« on: »
Good morning!  This song title was given to me as a homework assignment from a songwriter group I’m in here  in Southern Alberta.  I’m pretty happy with the result. LMK your thoughts.

V1
I know I don’t think before I speak
I say things you weren’t meant to hear
How can I make you understand
I get confused whenever you get near

I’m lost inside the way I feel
I don’t feel right, I don’t feel real
I’m not lonely, I’m not mad
Just sort of sorry, kind of sad.

V2
I try to make my face say the words
Perfect things I hope you want to know
I get stuck and stare into your eyes
You smile and shake your head, then off you go

It’s not fair, you need to know
How much I care, how deep it goes
Safe to say, I’ve got it bad
It’s sort of sorry, kind of sad

Chorus
I’m sort of sorry, I regret what I can’t say
Kind of sad I let this drag on one more day
Can’t see how I can miss what I never had
More than sorry, leaning hard to sad

V3
It would help if you could read my mind
Hear the words I never think to speak
When I get captivated by your eyes
Mesmerizing and unique

It’s not fair, you need to know
How much I care, how deep it goes
Safe to say, I’ve got it bad
It’s sort of sorry, kind of sad

Chorus
I’m sort of sorry, I regret what I can’t say
Kind of sad I let this drag on one more day
Can’t see how I can miss what I never had
More than sorry, leaning hard to sad

Thats a long time to get to chorus on 16 lines. Other than that, its a cool story.  A great trick is 8 line v1 , and 4 line v2 to get to chorus quicker

Sounds great.
