Totally "Out Of The Box" For Me - "BETTY"
« on: »
Friends, I was watching some videos on all of the new robotics, and someone mentioned a future of people falling in love with robots due to loneliness and a lack of personal contact today. Everything is a text, or a tweet now days! This song is a little "Risky", but it had to be to fit the songs narrative. What's your thoughts on overall lyrical messaging?

This genre and musical style is totally outside the box of my normal writings. So, I could use your input!

Song Summary:

"BETTY" - What if loneliness led you to buy the perfect companion? In this song, a man orders a high-tech personal robot after spotting a late-night ad. Betty arrives as his titanium dream—blonde hair, household helper, and bedroom expert programmed for pleasure. But when fantasy consumes reality, the cost hits harder than expected.  A cautionary, bittersweet tale of AI love, obsession, and letting go.  Lyrics explore modern isolation, synthetic intimacy, and the blurry line between fantasy and heartbreak.

Song Title: BETTY

Lyrics:

Watched a TV ad, one I’ve never seen,
New robots, for personal company.
Scanned a QR code, picked up my phone,
Made a purchase, her name is... “Betty”.

The cost was steep, savings now gone,
Nine weeks waiting, delivered today.
I’ve been lonely, she can comfort me,
Reading directions, can’t wait to play.

Betty is perfect, titanium joy,
Her long blonde hair, was an extra fee.
Illusions of love, dismissing heart beats,
Acceptance granted, she's my fantasy.

She washes clothes, pours my coffee,
Empties the trash, sweeps all the floors.
Household duties, are irrelevant,
Her specialty is behind bedroom doors.

[Female Robotic Voice]
"Programmed for your personal pleasure".

Silicone hands, lithium warmed,
Legs that can move to ninety degrees.
A. I. controlled, gentle touching,
Nine languages, with foul words to tease.

Cyborg failure, Betty’s demise,
Unrepairable, my metal honey.
Consumed by pleasure, I lost my job,
Can’t buy Suzie... I have no money.

I'll never regret, making that call,
Love passed beyond, the warranty years.
Remote control, batteries removed,
Scrapping Betty... with painful tears.

Certainly relevant.
Lyrics flow and tell a story, and the music selection was spot on.
Humans being humans would find a way to make a whole trade out of it ;)

Very profound and prophetic if not downright scary.
Makes you wonder, and that's what a good song should do.
Good job, well done.

Thanks for your input, Sid, this type of song is completely not my personal kind of song! I just had an idea pop into my head and knew this was not going to be my "normal" genre or Country style of song theme. I've wrote a few songs in other genres to try to venture out on my song writing. Just trying to test my skills as a lyricist. I appreciate your thoughts!

You're right Whengen! People are so wrapped up with their phones and living their lives in a basement atmosphere. Loneliness and seclusion is becoming way too common. Many have very little personal connections with others, other than online behind a screen! Robotics have advanced and will be a "norm" in the near future. I truly appreciate your thoughts my friend.

I like this and I don't know why.

I don't doubt someone out there is working on this or may have already done it.

But these days there's no or very little social life's.  What happened to the days of going to the club's.

Needless you did a good job here.

I think it's really outside the box, and maybe a little early to be relevant, but it's coming! I agree, where are the friendships, hanging with the boys? Now days, it's getting that people want to isolate themselves and most friendships are those "liking" a post on social media. Thank you for your input on this song Tex!

Hey Monty,
I love the topic you chose - wow. The lyrics are written in a true storyteller fashion. Great job. The music you generated fits the song perfectly.

The only thing I personally feel is missing is a dedicated chorus with a strong hook line that repeats and stays in your head after the song is over.

Something maybe similar to this (just an idea):

Betty, Betty, programmed for love
Wires and whispers fit me like a glove
She don’t break my heart, she don’t say goodbye
Just plug her in, pleasure, paradise
Betty, Betty… my artificial dream
Nothing’s ever quite the way it seems

That said, the song works really well as it is.

All the best,
Robert

I considered a chorus, but the song was fairly long, and I didn't want to exceed a person's listening interest. It will be hard for me to change lyrics now as I submitted a copyright application for the lyrics though the U.S. Copyright office. It was approved a few months back. I actually did cut some of the intro music length on this version as the original song was 4:06 seconds in duration. I truly appreciate your input, Rob!

BTW... Love the chorus idea and lyrical guidance! Solid advice. Thank you Rob!
