Who says your kids don't listen???
« on: »
My Daughter Kathryn volunteers at a dog rescue almost every week and fosters dogs all the time.  This is what someone posted on facebook.

Animal Control is overflowing with dogs and puppies, the kind of overcrowding you don’t just see, you feel.
Most of the dogs still light up when you pass their kennel, full of hope. But, there are a few that don’t get up right away anymore. They look defeated, it’s heartbreaking.
And through it all is a staff that keeps showing up, day after day, doing everything they possibly can. You can see the weight they carry too, exhaustion, compassion and the hard truth that there is no easy end in sight.
It was heavy.
Later, as I was chatting with Kathryn, an incredible supporter of CCAC who understands these days. I tried to explain how I was feeling and she reminded me of the Starfish Story.
after a storm, thousands of starfish are stranded on a beach. A young boy begins picking them up one by one and throwing them back into the ocean. An older man tells him, “There are too many. You can’t possibly make a difference.” The boy picks up another starfish, tosses it into the water, and says, “I made a difference to that one.”
What a great reminder

Kind reminded me they actually DO listen!! wheww
When you row someone else across the river, you get there yourself
