Here's a song I composed with Leslie Kalison:
http://schicksville.com/Heroes%20%26%20Lovers.mp3 Leslie was killed in a car accident the week we composed this. This is a live performance by Davia Sachs. Leslie was a cousin of Art Garfunkel. She played this for Art. He liked it but said it wasn't commercial enough. I agree. This is more made for a movie. Maybe a movie about the dramatic life of Leslie.
Heroes and Lovers
Lyrics: Leslie Kalison
Music: John Lawrence Schick
Performed by Davia Sachs (Vocal)
He was born long ago
She was born just yesterday
And knew she missed him
Oh she tried not to care
But the world went too fast
For her old-fashioned past
And love only spent the night
Night made her dream of other times
Morning made her wish for night
Just to be with him
Oh she knew he was there
Just a man who believed in her forever dreams
And love without end
When heroes and lovers
Were more than just an old fantasy
Maybe you'll find tomorrow looking back for dreams
And maybe he was there
Waiting for some fine new love who never came
Someday maybe she'd make it back that way
She'd had her share of promises
Thrown away like magazines
No one had read yet
Yes the world was so free
But a love without ties
Won't hold you all your life
And sometimes the world forgets
It's hard to belong
The world's all wrong for a stranger
When you want to go home you just want to go home
You can find your way back out
If you can get beyond the doubt
You can dream yourself away
He was born long ago
Back a thousand yesterdays
In dreams she painted
And one fine day she went back
Beyond doubts beyond lies
Back to that other time
And love without end
When heroes and lovers
Were more than just an old fantasy
Sometimes you'll find tomorrow looking back for dreams
And she went back to find
All the things she waited for that never came
That day she made it back to him to stay
To stay
