Classic Tex, an outstanding piece of work to be proud of.
By the second verse I had tears in my eyes.
Played it for my wife and she ran out of the room halfway through.
Take a bow, she never does that for mine!
Outstanding writing Tex, if you never write another.............
Hope someone picks this up, it's a hit.

Thanks Tex/Chris,
Appreciate you finding the time to comment.
As to the chords, I wouldn't know my Am from my G7, thought it was a finance thing.
The kiddie vocals drive me nuts and it's only recently I've found a way to get around it.
The melody and rhythm seemed to go down a well worn country track so I opted for those.

v1
I got three lawn mowers, yeah I got it made
One of em runs and two are on display
A blown head gasket on my C. R. V.
But it’ll run til I run out of antifreeze
I don’t have time to waste about what it means....

Chorus
So I choose to be happy in the place I’m in
I’m not losin so I call it a win
It’s all about what I do with what I have......
And I’m not sayin that I don’t want more
It’s not a team sport unless you’re keepin score
I just gotta wonder do I really give a damn....
About the Secret to happiness

V2
The lights went out cus it’s pourin again
I’m on the front porch had to phone a friend
Put a big bag of charcoal on the propane grill
By the free hot tub that’s beginning to fill
At the end of the day, I’m still just livin the dream

Chorus
Bridge
Cus we all have **** that hits the fan
We get knocked down and then run over again
If this sounds familiar just raise your hand
We’re all in the same damn mess

Chorus
Outro
And I’m not willing to believe all the hype
Believe what you want I’m not lookin to fight
I don’t need the stuff their selling, right? I guess
That’s the secret to happiness
Yeah that’s the secret to happiness

oh they really rake you over the coals on propane . This is funny , were train wrecks , but find the secret to happiness. Of course James Taylor made it a little unrealistic with his song enjoying the passing of time and all that . But what ya going to do, a fantasy like his , or your song on reality

Sorry about making you cry Kay-lynn.

I've got an eye doctor that is on the board at St Jude's. Been thinking about letting him hear this and see if it's something they might be able to use. I'm not sure if I should or not.

Yup, it's very personal, it's about my childhood.. ( of which I don't remember much of , thank God) but I've heard enough stories to know it wasn't good.............................

I"m very grateful not to remember, but that doesn't mean it hasn't affected me my whole life.
